 | | Florida personal injury attorneys and their clients are routinely left to deal with numerous important issues after a claim against the at-fault party and their insurance carrier has been resolved. One of these matters is the resolution of medical expenses, often in the form of a hospital lien. Attend this webinar to better understand how the First District Court of Appeals decision in Mercury Insurance Company vs. Shands Teaching Hospitals and Clinics, Inc. could affect your practice.
In its opinion, the First District Court of Appeals held the Alachua County hospital lien law to be unconstitutional. This decision may ultimately serve to invalidate hospital liens. Should the opinion stand, its implications could serve to be significant for your clients.
Who Should Attend All FJA Members should register for this important Webinar to understand how The Mercury Decision could affect their practice and their client's case. | Formats Available: CD-ROM (Win), Audio CD, Streaming, Webinar

 | The FJA Medical Malpractice Seminar is an advanced seminar to be presented in three parts and is titled "Masters of Medical Malpractice Roundtable: Confronting New Laws and Hot Issues."
The 2011 Legislative Session brought new laws, including Expert Certification and Mandatory Authorizations Required To Accompany Notices Of Intent. The Procedures for ensuring compliance with these new hurdles will be presented. Leading practitioners from the courtroom and appellate podiums will be led in a guided, agenda driven, Round Table Discussion which will address the topics of: Medicaid Caps, Medical School Immunity, including Shands and UM; and Expert Witness Certification.
Participants will be asked to e-mail specific questions in advance of the seminar and submit questions as the seminar is being conducted. The round table discussion will be strictly moderated and speakers will be limited to pre-determined time limits for their comments on each subject. At the end of the round table discussion, the appellate luminaries will offer suggestions on when and how constitutional challenges should be preserved.
Hot Topics will be addressed in rapid succession by speakers limited to approximately five minutes per topic. Beyond the new laws and cases, these mini-presentations will provide laser guided, practical advice on how to distinguish bad decisions and expand the applicability of those which are plaintiff friendly. A working lunch will be provided so that your time at the seminar will be rewarded with an uninterrupted presentation of issues which will affect your medical malpractice cases and prepare you to handle the recent changes in the statutory and common law. | Formats Available: CD-ROM (Win), Audio CD, Streaming, DVD
